What's your favorite place to drink whiskey? Do you just sip it on your couch? Or also have some special music for it? Any cigars?
Â
I personally, have no idea why people love cigar + whiskey, as they don't really compliment each other, although I am not a smoker.

Whiskey
When I drink my whiskey, I usually am on my couch relaxing. I like to drink it in this large coffee mug, or as my roommate would say, my "crunk cup." I know that guy in the video Vygantas posted somewhere says that whiskey should never be drunk from a coffee mug, but I'm not really going for the complete whiskey experience seeing as I usually mix it with coke.
Â
I have tried it with a cigar, however. I thought I would be a badass, and sip some Gentleman Jack with my first "real" cigar. I ended up smoking the cigar way too fast (I was used to the occasional Black and Mild), and add that with straight whiskey (which I still usually have to mix with coke or something). I was throwing up after smoking half the cigar (20-30 minutes). I then took a nap and felt better lol.
My Jack loveing mom
I use to drink mainly Jamesons Irish Whiskey alot but have lately not been drinking much whiskey, hardly ever actually. So these days, my favorite place to drink whiskey is at my moms house when I go to visit, shes allergic to beer and loves whiskey so we always have a couple drinks together as a family. Normally we just have whiskey and coke, or sometimes she will want to do a shot or two with me, which I hate because I cant stand to shoot straight liqour of any kind, to me its a way of getting drunk instead of enjoying a drink. But of course, what mom says goes, so if she says do a shot, I do a shot. I do enjoy to sip a whiskey and coke while smokeing a cigar, or a Camel Wide cigarette.

As far as what type of whiskey, Jack Daniels, JD Gentalmans Jack, and JD Single Barrel. My mom is a huge JD fan, her house is all done up in JD, and Harley Davidson, stuff. As well as her Harley is all customized with JD stuff. And of course, she owns stock in JD. Crazy woman.

If I owned stock in JD...
If I was a stock owner in Jack Daniels, I'd do up my house and drink only JD too :-) I've never done shots with my mom, however my dad... yes. Although, with dad, it's not unusual to crack out the Grappa and do some sipping. Or, a little Grand Marnier, etc.
Â
I did buy him a bottle of La Clandestine Absinthe for Christmas :)
La Clandestine for Christmas?
What did your dad think of it?

Cheers,

He liked it
I believe the comment from him was "woooah, scary." Given how much he had the first time I brought it over his house :) I keeps it on his shelf next to his grappa for when guests come over for after-dinner drinks :)
Blue Long Island
The Blue Long Island is my favorite from 09. Your web site is wonderful and I can't wait to get home to tune in to see the newest cocktail. Keep up the great work. I'll always to watching!
I love to sit in the couch
I love to sit in the couch with a buddy and watch a movie with some whiskey. I also like to take my time with it, and sip it slowly. And i have only smoked a cigar twice in my life, but i really liked it and would love to try it while drinking whiskey. It looks really fancy when you see a guy in a suit with a cigar and drinking whiskey. CLASSY!! But yeah, whiskey for me is something that i like to enjoy over a longer period of time... Unless its not a good whiskey, then i put it in a glass of coke, with ice :D

What whiskey
And, which whiskey do you choose?
Glenfiddich
I am very found of the Glenfiddich 18 year old single malt. I have only tried the 12 year old and 18 year old, but i have seen that they have 20 years and 30 years old, so it would be cool to try those out sometime too. What is your favorite?

Oh, so you're talking whisky
Okay, so you're drinking whisky not whiskey (aka Scotch). I've still got to buy me a bottle of scotch, I'm looking at the Johnny Walker Black Label as my first purchase. I like it at bars, I'm sure it will taste the same at my house :)
At the risk of sounding like
At the risk of sounding like a huge dumbass; I tought skotch, whisky and burbon was essentialy the same product, but from different places of the world. Like it can only be called a scotch if it comes from Scotland? I just enjoy it, i dont know all the terms, hehe. But yeah, drinks are like food; It always taste better at the resturant.

Bourbon is usually sweeter,
Bourbon is usually sweeter, as it is made from corn.
Â
Derrick, have you already tried Green or Gold, or Swing?
Â
I have heard so much about Glenfiddich and want to try it, but still can't and not sure when I will be able to (ulcer (no, not from drinking or stress :-)) :-/
Â
So far, in my "to taste" list:
Â
Black Bottle
Aberlour A'bunadh
Teachers Highland Cream
Glenfiddich
Mortlach 19 y.o. (Signatory cask)
Ardmore 15 y.o.
Ardbeg 10 y.o. Islay
Ardbeg Uigeadail

And it's only from first month tasting at http://whiskyreviews.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

As for myself, I tend to drink Walker Black Label, either in calm place without any music, just thinking about future, accomplishments and what tomorrow will bring to me. I'd probably call it "meditation" :-)
Â
As for other moments:
Â
"Johnnie Walker Black Label, holding a nice glass in my hand + Maria Callas - La Wally Ebben Ne Andrò Lontrana (somehow, I only enjoy this song) playing non stop + laying back and watching stars in some empty field with trees and grass, in a complete silence (expect for music)..." It just feels so good... I usually spend from 2 to 4 hours there... Tried with cigar, but had same experience anyway, so why waste your health and money... :-)
Â
Proud to be awesome.

Atm I am looking forward to crack my Jim Beam bottle.. But havent done it, yet.
