Brand Loyalties: Expand Yourself, Try Something New

Brand Loyalties: Expand Yourself, Try Something New

Over the years I've noticed many people lean towards a specific brand when selecting a spirit. Folks will swear by their favorite brand as "the best" having only tried a small select set of competitors before making the determination. In many cases, the brand you selected may not really be the best in the world but you've found a special place in your heart for its inviting love.

Everyone's palate is different; this cannot be argued. However, a select few cocktail and spirit drinkers whom have tried other brands have found new loves and invigorating passions. You don't have to be a one-label lover, you can select other labels that offer new variety, tastes and complexities. I recently discovered Caramba Tequila and found their silver to be quite unique in taste profile offering something completely different from that of a Partida label. Is it better? No, it's just different. Different can be good too. I don't have to always drink the same brand and get the same experiences, I can work outside the box and see what else my tastes enjoy.

As you experiment you may find a whiskey, gin, tequila, rums of all color and even a vodka which stands out differently amongst its peers. While you may not always fall in love with its uniqueness you'll never know if you do not give it a try. Next time you're at the store reaching for your ol' standby, give pause and look around... is there a brand you've never tried at the same price-point? You may one day surprise yourself.
