I've been talking about this for a long time and I finally got all the parts I needed to show off a fairly extensive bar tools episode. We'll bust through some fairly desired and needed bar tools like the cocktail shaker to the swizzle stick, zester, lime squeeze, sodastream carbonator, strainers, jiggers and all the other fun stuff you can find for cocktail making.
Not all is required, but I tried to find a bunch of stuff to show off so you had an idea of what was out there on the market.

Whiskey Stones
Have you ever tried Whiskey Stones instead of Ice?

I have not tried them. But they are pretty interesting.
lol, stones
Wow, no, I've not seen those. However, whisky distillers (or at least scotch distillers) would weep at the sight. When I interviewed Keith Law of Diageo (such brands as Johnny Walker), he said master distillers use the rule of "two" being: 2 oz. of whisky and 2 cubes of ice.
Â
You can use a spring water too but the goal of the dilution is to break up the alcohols a bit and bring out some of the aromas. 2 cubes of ice is all that is needed to really get the flavors to arrive. Chilling it without water won't do that. But, for those that refuse to add a bit of water to your drink, this works.
Â
I know others that just put the whiskey in the freezer and pour it cold. Same effect, but not as "neat."

I've been enjoying your shows
I've been enjoying your shows for awhile now in 'lurker' status. You've really inspired me to move beyond my core repertoire of 3 or 4 drinks...one of which was the Tequila Sunrise
Â
In the bar tools episode, I was a little surprised you didn't mention the bar spoon's other key feature - the twirled handle which allows you to pour liquids right down the middle of your drink and flow straight to the bottom for easy layering (as in the grenadine 'sunrise' in a tequila sunrise.) You just slowly pour it right down the handle and it magically appears at the bottom.
Â
Anyway, great shows. I enjoy your personality and i've discovered several new recipes by watching. Keep up the good work!!
Ah! Lurkers! Ha! Ha!
Yeah! So it took this episode to get you out of lurker status! Nice. I'll forget to mention things more often! There was so much to mention in the episode all while trying to do it in short-form status without busting out a 30-minute episode that some things got left off. Such as the Absinthe Fountain in the background.
Â
Hopefully, the overall coverage was okay.
And
And the Ice jacket, it deserves so much more credit. Its not one of those things you need but a thing you just want, because then you have it, right?! It is really neat! :)
Its impossible to remember everything, but I think you did a really good job on this. (Btw you forgot the umbrella garnish from episode 1(i think) those were stunning!:P )
Umbrella Garnish!
I had the umbrella's (just not unfolded). Totally forgot about the ice jacket as it's hiding in my freezer right now! Damn. It will be pulled out again soon though.
(no subject)
so when i started making some drinks i went out and got one of the three piece shakers, and i must say i do not like it. It is one of the lower end ones of course, not insulated and freezes your hand to it when shaking, but i just needed something to do the job. i have been thinking of getting a boston shaker for some time now but i think i will wait until my alcohol supply is a little larger and more drinks can be made.
Â
anyways, sweet episode, i have to admit i was a bit excited when i saw it was finally the bar tools one XD
Dustin ≥ Awesome
Awesome
Yeah, the shakers to seem to freeze up on ya, I hate that. Boston Shakers are nice if you can figure out how to best use them, you can kick through a bunch of drinks real fast.
Cool
Those were some crazy lemons you got there. Btw that 3 pieced shaker is a manhatten shaker and the pour spouts are primary (?) made for controlling the liquid so that you dont overpour and get a lot of spilled liquid because you made the drink to strong.
Â
And btw where is the Ice Jacket ? :O
Â
Nice show though
good episode
i liked the bar tools episode but i think you forgot to show off the absinthe lamp. i hope you can do the irish trash can recipe i sent in a few days ago to you.
Ah yes, absinthe
I'll use the absinthe fountain along with another one I have down stairs on a future episode, I'm looking to get a new absinthe brand in soon. Also, I will probably need them for an ABV episode when we taste absinthe.
