Chip Shot Shooter

Visit AwesomeDrinks.com for glassware and more!

The Chip Shot shooter is a great drink for our coffee fans (myself included). This is a fun shooter that works well after dinner when coffee would be served. This gives you a chance to try Tuaca in a cocktail where it has more of a chance to bring its flavors to the surface.

Just remember to chill the cup or let the coffee come down a bit in temperature - we don't need anyone burning themselves! Did I mention I love coffee?

Temperatures

Oh man, you poured hot coffee into a chilled glass?  That's a recipe for disaster.  I speak from a few too many times cleaning up a lot of hot tea and broken glass myself.

Same here. During my 1st

Same here. During my 1st absinthe experience, we were burning it for a really long time and then poured ice cold water into the same, hot glass... Not the best idea :-)

OUch

yeah, you light it up and hold it for awhile and that sucker gets SUPER hot, best to leave it alone for awhile (afer blowing it out of course) :)

It's all relative

It's not frozen, or iced. The coffee, as you may notice, goes into the cocktail last. Even a chilled cocktail glass comes down quickly in temperature when you put the starting ingredients into the glass. I didn't frost the glass, I sat it on ice for a few minutes to get it out of the realm of "warm."

The other ingredients also helped bring down the heat to something more reasonable so the end result is a warm cocktail shot, not a hot one.

wow

haha. cool mix. was it not bitter at all? because there was no real sugar, was the tuaca sweet enough?

Not bitter

I may depend on the style of coffee you utilize, mine isn't bitter to begin with but I'd still typically use sugar in my coffee. Honestly, the thought of bitter never crossed my mind so I'm going to say no, not bitter at all!

A Monster

Holy crap that is one huge shot glass! How big is that, 4 or 5 ounces?

I have about 90 shot glasses

Yeah, I have about 90 shot glasses (wife's got a collection going), this one is probably at least five ounces. I got it at Disney at the Aerosmith Rollercoaster ride :) We have them from all over the world and different states we've been to.

It got bad. Once people saw we had a collection we kept getting more as gifts. Let me tell you how hard it is to dust them all on the shelf. NOT FUN.

Maybe one of these days I'll pull out the tall one (its about double the height of that one)

Yummy!

That sounds really tasty. As you mentioned I love coffee and I love baileys too.
(The combination is awesome!)

Now I have to find some Tuaca, because strangely enough it's pretty hard to find here.
But that's just another good reason to visit Italy again in the near future. :)
Hm, really looking forward to it.

Tuaca

Definitely want to get some Tuaca, can you guys buy it online in Austria?

Okay, gotta go prep for the beer podcast tonight, we're doing Pilsners. I've gogt Warsteiner and the original pilsner, Pilsner Urquell.

Hm, I've never tried coffee +

Hm, I've never tried coffee + baileys before... Going to try... NOW :-) Just wondering... What's the baileys:coffe ratio? 1:8 or 1:2?

Will skip oranges :-)

Speaking of coffee + alcohol, brandy + coffee is just bad, no idea why some people love it.

Coffee and Bailey's

You've never had coffee and bailey's?? I do that all the time for fun. The ratio, for me, is usually the same as what I'd use for cream. For a cup of coffee (8oz), I'd probably use a half-ounce or less but I don't use a lot of cream in my coffee, you can always do a full shot or whatever you'd like (to taste). Do what tastes good, start small and work your way up until it's got the right creaminess.

Mmm, it smells very good

Mmm, it smells very good :-)

Regarding taste, as I prefer non filtered coffee without any cream, etc. it tastes pretty much like coffee + cream for me, maybe more creamy.

Still, can't beat the awesomeness of black coffee + dark chocolate with non crushed hazel nuts :-)

Black Coffee

Ah, you're a black coffee nation eh? I had a buddy from Jakarta (Java Island I believe) that drank his coffee with condensed milk because it was so thick and black that you needed something to cut it.

I don't mind black coffee, but I'm a bigger fan of coffee and a bit o' cream and sugar.

Haha, yeah. You must still

Haha, yeah. You must still try it with that chocolate :-) That's how I got hooked up.
