I didn't have any vanilla vodka, so I tried it with some Cruzan vanilla rum I had on hand. I still got the chocolate cake effect. I think it may be the vanilla flavor that makes it work, but it is hard to say since I haven't tried it with vodka.

This is the first recipe I've made that I've seen on here, for two reasons. One; it's easy and quick (and pretty easy to make when you've already had, five, six, twelve...). Two; We were going to a friend's birthday party and I figured, "Hey! I'll bring the cake!"
 
This tastes EXACTLY like chocolate cake. It's actually really weird, but awesome. I notice the smell of the Frangelico and Vodka DOES smell somewhat like the frosting, but I got more of the hazelnut from the Frangelico, but the frosting smell was still there.
 
I went with Smirnoff Vanilla Vodka, but that was only because that was the only brand that had a vanilla flavor at this particular liquor store.
 
Now, experimenting with this, we've established two things; The lemon w/ sugar not only gives you that extra taste and feeling of eating, but also nullifies the burn from the vodka, and always use fresh-ish lemons for the best results. You could do the shot without the lemon and get a similar result, but it's not as strong and you get that slight vodka burn. The first lemons we used were older and gave you the effect, just not as strong as when we used fresh lemons we just bought.
 
This is definitely something I'll be making at every party from now on, just because it's awesome!

I really can't wait to try this one going to the liquor store on my way home from work today!  I will let you know what I think tonight!!

That's what a real drink should do. Once you try, it gives you so much positive emotions that you just start smiling.Can't wait to try this one.

Man, I've seen other drinks that call for vanilla vodka, but it's only been about 3 or 4 recipes so far, & since it's a flavored vodka, it doesn't come in any size smaller than a fifth, so I never think I should buy it 'cause I won't need that much.  Do you think there will be more recipes in the future you'll cover that include vanilla vodka, as to give me an excuse to finally just go out & buy it?
