Golden Apple Cocktail

Visit AwesomeDrinks.com for glassware and more!

More Apples! We're excited to have Havana Club rum in the house, literally. This Cuban rum isn't exactly something you can easily get in the United States, so substitute your favorite dark rum (Goslings!?) in its place if you cannot get this product.

The Candy Apple Cocktail is tasty, fruity, juice and a worthwhile cocktail for the fall season.

Golden-Colored Apple Liqueur

Here is an example of a golden-colored apple liqueur:  Berentzen Apfelkorn.  Berentzen also has a pear liqueur. I find these have way more natural, intricate flavors than DeKuyper-brand stuff.  We have it all over the place here in WI.  I'll have to try this cocktail with this stuff and my Appleton Estate Rum.  Great episode!

So how often have you made a total mess

So how often have you made a total mess where the seal would break totally? =P

And for the havana club, big fan of it, but you probably already knew that (think i mailed you a review link ages ago). Think i have 3 or 4 different versions available in the next best (larger) liquorstore.

Never broken the seal

I've yet to break the seal to the point of disaster :)

Yes, Havana club has been haunting me as you and others have told me I need to get it...but I wasn't able to until that one grateful day in the airport :)

Havana Club & metric system

Living in Belgium its pretty much the ONLY brand of rum thats gets used in bars, few will opt for Bacardi. There's just no other big brands around here. I'm not sure how the embargo works there, could I send you bottles as 'gifts' through normal international mail? If so I could trade ya Havana Club for Captain Morgan :p

On the metric system. Well its europe, we dont use fluid ounces, it all gets done in cl mostly, not even ml so much. The standard 'alcohol measurements' here are 3cl and 5cl respectively, which is about equal to 1oz and 1.5 oz. Bartenders here will think in terms of 1/3's of an oz, as related to cl's. Amounts such as 3/4 or 1+1/4 of an oz arent bothered with here. I think a dash cpunts as 0.5cl, the amount of with a barspoon. As for jiggers, the most frequent sizes used are 2/3 & 3/5. Most bars will have no exact measurement of 1cl which would between 1/2 and 1/4 of an oz.

Hope that helps you in some way.

Close, but no (cuban?) cigar

You got the measurements almost right. You get them right if you multiply the U.S. measurements with 30 (or more exactly 29.57). I've never had a problem with you using the U.S. measurements because my measuring cup is 15 ml which conveniently is 1/2 oz =) How do you feel about the metric system? Sould they replace the U.S. customary units?

1 2/3 oz = 1,667 oz
1,667 oz * 30 ml/oz = 50 ml

1/2 oz = 0,5 oz
0,5 oz * 30 ml/oz = 15 ml

1 1/2 oz = 1,5 oz
1,5 oz * 30 ml/oz = 45 ml

1 US tsp * 1 US tsp/EU tsp = 1 EU tsp

Metric system

I like the metric system, it's predictable and easy. But... alas, we only learned metrics for about one week back in the third grade or something :=| I really wish we'd just convert. But, with politics and whining folks that think "our system is best" will also slowdown the process. We can't get a health care system in place, forget metric!

Converting to Meteric system.

Well, you dont have to tell that 2 oz is 6 cl (5.91 cl) during the show.. You can just put it on the end of the show where you can see the receipe (spelled right?)...

And to do so I have found you this online converter.. :-) (its safe)

You have tagged it as apple

You have tagged it as apple cider, but actually used juice :-)

Proud to be awesome.
