The Pain Killer Recipe

The Pain Killer isn't as potent as you'd think, by the name, but it's very tropical and tasty. We're huge fans of the coconut flavor from the Malibu Rum mixed up with some darker rum to add additional flavors merged with a pineapple and orange juice combination.

This is a well balanced fruity tropical drink with refreshing flavors, a smooth juice texture with hints of coconut and rum, a pineapple wedge to garnish and you'll want to run to a sandy beach in the warm sun.

Dark Rum

Though I drink a variety of rums, from white to dark, my money for a dark rum is Myers. It is smooth and doesn't have the harshness that other rums have.

Bacardi? At least it isn't white.

Try Appleton's, Captain Morgan, St. James, I could give you a list that'll keep you hunting for rum until the cows come home.

BUT... by far the best rum I've had (I'm sure there are better and would love to taste them) is Barbancourt.

The trick to dark rum is to go for age and ensure that the colour comes from the casking NOT from added caramel.

I have some Appleton's, but it's gold

When I was on the hunt, I found appletons gold, but not "dark." I'll see if I can find their darker rum that's barel dark not caramel dark (which usually is represented by price, caramel colored ones are cheaper).

Captain Morgans Silver/Spice are a few of my favorites, especially Private Stock. Thanks for the comments, we love to see viewers writing in!
