Â
Our first guest appearance, Jim from HelloVino arrives at the studio with a few bottles of Ecco Domani's Pinot Grigio and we pull out some watermelon to build the Ecco Freddo. This is one of two recordings we've done with HelloVino, expect another episode next month with Rick; HelloVino and I break out the grapes and muddle a different wine cocktail, stay tuned for that!

5th one, excellent
Wow, so you're now an experienced Ecco Freddo drinker with five under your belt :)
Haha, yeah. Â I just had my
Haha, yeah.
Â
I just had my 1st in a life life hangover (believe it or not). Usually, I can drink and drink and feel great in the morning (doesn't matter how much consumed). Not today though, guess it has something to do with the fact that I don't drink wine at all :-)
lol, glad we could help
Glad I could assist in that :) Before bed you're supposed to drink lots of water. I think that was an unwritten rule. Usually I drink a few glasses of water along with a two ibuprophen or other style pain killer.
Â
Or, you just drink a little less. You finish a bottle o' wine and you're sure to feel it in the morning!
It's true, the reason why I
It's true, the reason why I never had a hangover was probably the fact that I drink like 5-6 cups of tea every day, so even when I'm really f... up, still no hangover :-)
Â
P.S. Not 100% sure, but I believe you should drink more water before starting to have alcohol (or both).
Â
Quote "When alcohol is consumed, it enters the bloodstream and causes the pituitary gland in the brain to block the creation of vasopressin (also known as the antidiuretic hormone). Without this chemical, the kidneys send water directly to the bladder instead of reabsorbing it into the body.:
Â
So it would make sense that even when you drink lots of water, it still won't be absorbed very well, when you are drunk :P
Â
Anyway, delicious coctail, haha.
Perhaps
That may be true, but I flood my system as much as possible after drinking. Drinking water first isn't always top priority and sometimes I don't remember to do it. I usually go with six or seven 8 oz. glasses of water before bed.
Â
It also helps "wake" you up a few times at night to makes sure your system is doing okay :)
Drinking it now. Very good

Wow, prompt
That's the fastest turn around on a recipe result ever. You waste no time! :)
Â
Thanks for the edits on mixdrinkipedia.com as well :)
any time!
No problemo; happy to do it :)
Â
...& thank YOU for all the wonderful cocktail recipes & info! :)
great idea!
Mixing a nice fruity white wine with watermelon sounds great. And it is actual watermelon, not that fake syrup instant sugar high stuff. This looks like a must try!
AWESOME! And great idea with the guest coming in. GO JIM!!!! great wine pairing website also, i have used it many times.
Yummers
Neat! I'm not a huge wine person so this could be a good start to slowly ease my way into wine. PLUS it looks like a great drink for sitting on the deck with friends enjoying the sunshine!
Â
Nice to see a guest too, something a little different :)
need simpler syrup
I can't wait to try this; it looks ridiculously good. Â I just gotta get my lazy self to finally make that simple syrup... boil equal portions of sugar & water, right? Â 4 oz each at a time is good?
1 CUP is good
I usually do 1 cup of sugar and 1 fluid cup of water, boil it, then take it off the heat and let it cool down or stuff in refridgerator and you're good to go!
sweet! (literally)
Ok, cool. Â Thanks! :)
I'll let you know what I think of it when I try it tomorrow.
Yayyy :)
innovative
this episode was really different. every thing was different.
Â
jim's so crazy!
Thanks for having Hello Vino on the show!
It was an honor to be a part of the show, thanks Derrick!
Â
Hopefully everybody tries out this tasty Pinot Grigio wine cocktail over the weekend.
Â
Looking forward to more recipe videos,
Â
Jim from Hello Vino
Yeah...
Definitely trying this. I am not big on wine at all but it sounds (and looks) great!
Â
You two actually have a pretty good dynamic going. I don't know if I could see the show having a co-host permanently, but guests like Jim would always be a nice change of pace.
Â
Well done!
After the show
For the next two days the wife and I had Ecco Freddo cocktails at night until we ran out of watermelon :) Definitely a nice change of pace from a standard cocktail and worth a try. Buy another bottle of Ecco Domani for next months recipe with muddled grapes! :)
OMG, awesome episode. I'm
OMG, awesome episode. I'm soooo trying this one.
Â
When you said about "guest", I thought: oh, probably some random dude who will just sit and do nothing. But this guy was fun to watch, haha. Thumbs up to you, sir.
Â
And for Derrick: now if you could replace audio podcast with 1-3h video podcast, I'd probably die from laughing too much :-)
1-3 hour video podcast would be tough!
Yeah, a 1-3 hour video podcast would be tough. Besides everyone being in different states (for the most part), that would be the biggest download ever!
Â
And, I keep my guests like I keep my sponsors: only the highest quality. The most difficult part for any guest, however, is being able to maintain their normal demeanor when the camera turns on. If you're not typically in front of the camera your mind tends to go "blank" when the red light flicks on.
Jim kept it natural and easy as does Rick in next months wine cocktail episode. They're both naturals!
