Tequila Sour

Visit AwesomeDrinks.com for glassware and more!

The Tequila Sour is a great way to experience tequila without going full Margarita. It's sweet yet sour, has nice flavor properties without the orange and the bitters make it stand out as its own drink.

Tequila lovers will, of course, love it and new tequila drinkers may find a more subtle way to experiment with tequilas. If you're not into reposado's, try the blanco/white/silver variaty. If you don't have agave nectar, use simple syrup.

no bitters

just like with whiskey sour - had this one yesterday without  bitters, with slightly changed proportions (1oz simple syrup, 3/4oz lemon). it tasted really good even with my lousy non-100% de agave tequila.
guess I'm just into sours :)

I'm liking the bunches of

I'm liking the bunches of Sour episodes.

I really enjoy the idea of his and her tastings, I hope you go ahead with the idea. :)

Delution is nice, true.

If it's a straight vodka drink, it won't melt the ice, true, but it comes down to the end result to me: if you're not into potent alcohol "bite" you can hide it with super cold vodka more than the water that's diluted off the ice :)

Or, make surey our second liquor component is extra warm (like mine tend to be on the set in the lights!)

his/hers

hey there - haven't been on in awhile....life's rough - BUT - i love the idea of a his and hers taste test - do it...
thanks

Okay, awesome!

Excellent, thanks for the input. Nothing but positive's so far.

100% agave + rum sour

hey, I did find 100% de agave tequila! :)

rum sour - hmm, like daiquiri? ;)

Yeah

Add bitters and you got a sour :) But yeah, sounds like a traditional daiquiri!

no bitters at the moment

I'm yet to buy some bitters. Angostura and orange bitters would be a good start, what do you think?

Anyway, I have a classic rum weekend. That means - mojito, daiquiri, mojito, daiquiri, mojito...;)

Bitters

The "higher class" mixologists swear by bitters. I only have angostura bitters myself but orange ones are next on my list too.

will soon get those

yup, bitters are high on my shopping priority list.

new show idea

i like the his and hers idea! Also the blind tasting. poor some shot glasses, blindfolds on, mix around the drinks, taste and describe at once, and overall rating at the end!

Blind taste testing

I definitely say go for the His and Her project. The blind taste testings especially excite me. I always find those interesting, for instance, I saw on another site where they did a vodka blind testing, and almost all of the participants rated Smirnoff ahead of Grey Goose. Go Figure.

I'm not surprised

I'm not that surprised, with Vodka a lot of people are devoted to a label and not the taste itself. You can get some good low-cost vodka's that are superior in finish than the expensive ones. You can get some really crapp load cost vodka's as well!

I'd like to try one or two episodes to see how they go, kinda get people's opinion. This also will give me an idea of how long each one could run and all that. When we get practice we can potentially spin it off as it's own show without having to have that new-show style of disorganization :)

His and Hers

I'm up for it, definitely. I'll even give you a theme for your first episode, Brandy.

Cognac, in particular. :P Hennessy anyone? Martell?

Try a Zeli today:
2 Splashes Jim Beam Bourbon Whiskey
1 Msr Lime Cordial
Sprite Zero

Combine all ingredients in a highball glass, making sure to fill the glass with the Sprite. Garnish with a lemon.

I have a couple brandies

I don't have too many brandies. I may have three though, so that may be a good set for a tasting.

Why not :-) I'm however

Why not :-)

I'm however excited about the upcoming audio podcast with that awful shot :-)

P.S. In Martini episode, Robert Hess said that it's bad idea to put vodka in your freezer (and got a good point (if it's already cold, ice won't dilute drink that easily). Of course, you don't have to do that, just saying :-)

Proud to be awesome.

Bad Idea.

Why is it a bad idea? Besides personal opinions and the fact that it hides the taste....

Because if vodka is cold

Because if vodka is cold already, ice won't melt nor dilute drink.

Proud to be awesome.

no water in martini

well, some say martini should have the minimal amount of water. the more alcohol, the better.
so - frozen alcohol, chilled glasses, no ice for stirring ....
I don't really agree with that, just repeating what I've heard

4 popular drinks I don't

4 popular drinks I don't get:

Martini,
Margarita
Long Iseland Tea,
Cosmopolitan

They don't taste very good, at least for me :-)

Proud to be awesome.

IMO

can't say much about 2 drinks with tequila. yes, I've never tried them - can you believe it? :)
I don't like martini - doesn't matter if it's with gin or vodka, proportions, lemon or olive garnish.
cosmo is actually pretty good :)

What!?

What's wrong with a margarita? I like a good long island ice tea too.... martini is good if you use a good gin. But, everyone is different :)

I am not into sour drinks

I am not into sour drinks (even if they are very "light") :-)

As for Long Island... It's too strong for me, maybe when adding tons of ice... + I don't like to get wasted, just like a guy from podcast amaretto episode.

philm, if you like stronger drinks, give long island a try :-)
